Doug Wilson

Doug Wilson would be an excellent addition to the National Association of RC&D Councils Board because he brings practical leadership experience, a strong commitment to locally led conservation, and a clear understanding of the challenges facing rural communities.
Through his service with Golden Triangle RC&D, he has helped guide an organization that works across 20 Southwest Georgia counties to advance water-resource protection, land conservation, workforce development, and community resilience. This experience has given him valuable insight into building partnerships among local governments, nonprofit organizations, landowners, businesses, and state and federal agencies. He understands how national policies and funding decisions affect the ability of local RC&D Councils to deliver meaningful results.
As a national board member, he would provide a strong rural perspective while remaining focused on the shared interests of RC&D Councils nationwide. He could contribute to strategic planning, member engagement, advocacy, partnership development, and efforts to strengthen the capacity and long-term sustainability of local councils. His firsthand knowledge of programs involving household water and sanitation, conservation planning, environmental education, workforce training, and community development would also help the Board identify practical, replicable solutions.
Most importantly, he believes in the RC&D model of bringing people together to solve locally identified problems. He would approach Board service collaboratively, listen carefully to other councils, share lessons from Golden Triangle’s successes and challenges, and work to ensure that the National Association remains responsive, effective, and positioned to serve rural communities for years to come.
